The multiple California microclimates and many pinot noir clones may provide a bold and “fruit forward” experience when grown in warmer, sun drenched regions or can have an especially delicate range of flavors on the palate when cultivated at higher altitudes or in coastal climates with maritime influences as is the case at Perfusion Vineyard.
To achieve a balance of delicate flavors on the palate, four clones of pinot noir were selected including Dijon 115, Dijon 777, Swan 23 and Pommard 5. While yields for grape varieties may exceed several tons per acre, due to the small cluster nature of pinot noir, our cane pruning and conservative watering practices, the Perfusion vineyard harvest yields just 1-1.5 tons. This corresponds to between 2 and 4 barrels of wine which is aged in top quality oak barrels sourced from the forests of southern France. Perfusion Vineyard has a limited production of premium pinot noir at just 50-100 cases annually. We specialize in estate grown, coastal style pinot noir and have expanded our portfolio to include white, rose and other red varieties. Like our pinot noir, each of these wines are small batch productions with an aim to maintain a steady stream of new and interesting vintages in the years ahead.
